Libertyville Man Arrested Twice in Two Days

The 20-year-old was first arrested for DUI and then for battery.

A 20-year-old Libertyville man was arrested twice in two days last week, first for DUI and then for battery.

Libertyville police said they say Perry C. Wahlin driving on Park Avenue near Blueberry Road around midnight Feb. 20. He failed to dim his headlights for oncoming traffic and was following another vehicle too closely.

Police pulled him over and officers said they smelled alcohol on his breath. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests, police said. He was charged with DUI, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, failure to dim headlights and following too closely.

The next day, a former friend lodged a complaint against Wahlin, saying Wahlin had punched him in the head.

The friend told police that he had gone to Wahlin’s home around 1:15 p.m. to get some property of his. They got into an argument and Wahlin punched him on the side of the head and pushed him to the ground, police said.

Police arrested Wahlin for battery.

Wahlin was released on the DUI charge on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and on the battery charge on a $120 personal recognizance bond. He’s got court dates March 19 and 21 for the two cases.
