Libertyville Police Step Up Residential Patrols

Libertyville Police Department is investigating five residential burglaries that occurred over the weekend.

The will step up patrols in residential areas after five burglaries occurred over the weekend.

Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 7, five homes were burglarized in Libertyville. In each case, the home was occupied and entry was made through an unlocked exterior door, according to a press release.

“Incidents like these are totally preventable and serve as an important reminder of the need to secure our homes and vehicles every night or when we will not be at home,” Police Chief Clint Herdegen wrote in the press release.

In each case, personal electronic devices and money were taken from the homes. The homes were located in the 900 block of Garfield Avenue, the 1300 block of St. William Drive, the 1000 block of Havenwood Drive, the 600 Innsbruck Court, and the 1000 block of Wellington Avenue.

“The offender entered the home through an unlocked door, took items that were readily available, and then left without confronting anyone inside. These are crimes of opportunity,” Herdegen wrote.

Herdegen says the police department will be “aggressively working to solve these crimes,” and encourages residents to report suspicious activities.
