Police: Libertyville Woman Leaves Scene of Accident

A 43-year-old woman who authorities say was under the influence of alcohol fled the scene of a Feb. 3 auto accident on Milwaukee Avenue.

A Libertyville woman who authorities say was under the influence of alcohol was issued six traffic tickets after she fled the scene of a Feb. 3 auto accident that injured two people in the 1000 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Donna A. Garrett, 39, 1015 Mayfair Drive, Libertyville, struck the rear of a vehicle making a turn off Milwaukee Avenue at about 9 p.m. One victim refused treatment and the other; a 10-month-old child, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Hospital for a forehead injury above an eye.

Garrett failed to stop at the scene of the accident and later was located at her residence.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated DUI involving an accident, failure to reduce speed and causing an accident, leaving the scene of an accident causing death or injury, leaving the scene of accident and failure to report death or injury within 30 minutes, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Garrett was taken to bond court the next morning where she was remanded to the custody of the Lake County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
