Lincolnshire Man Struck, Killed by Metra Train in Lake Forest

Authorities have released the identity of the 35-year-old who reportedly drove around lowered railroad gates Saturday afternoon.

A Lincolnshire man has been identified as the victim of Saturday’s fatal train accident in Lake Forest.

Victor B. Tsirline, 35, was struck by a Metra train when he tried to drive around the lowered railroad gates, the Daily Herald reported.

Tsirline was a surgeon at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital and taught at Northwestern University, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to witnesses at the scene, a vehicle was eastbound driving toward the tracks on Old Mill Road when the warning lights and bells activated and the gate at the crossing lowered, Patch reported. The sedan then drove around the gate and continued eastbound, where it was struck by the train. The car was pushed about 100 yards south along the tracks.
