Man Strikes Police Car, Refuses Arrest in Libertyville

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Mundelein man struck a parked police car and refused arrest at a Libertyville pharmacy drive-through recently.

Colin C. Sweeney, 33, of 26519 N. Route 83, Mundelein, is wanted by the Lake County Sheriff's Department on a warrant for assault.

He refused repeated requests from Libertyville police officers to get out of his vehicle in the pharmacy drive-through at , 1470 S. Milwaukee Ave.

Instead of getting out of his vehicle, Sweeney placed his car in drive and struck a parked police squad car. He later tried to take an officer’s baton. Sweeney later was subdued and taken to for evaluation.

Libertyville police charged Sweeney with disarming a peace officer, criminal damage to state property, reckless driving, and obstructing and resisting arrest.

Sweeney was held overnight at the for bond court the next morning. At court, he was remanded to the Lake County Jail on a $100,000 bond and issued a Nov. 14 court date.
