Men Accused of Burglary: Searching for Cigarettes

Two Libertyville residents say they entered unlocked cars looking for cigarettes.

Two Libertyville residents accused of burglary to motor vehicle told police they were only searching for cigarettes.

On April 13, a resident in the 200 block of Park Place reported seeing someone inside her vehicle. The incident occurred in the alley behind the residence at approximately 12:15 a.m.

Police found two men in the area, Armando Aldana, 19, of the 300 block of Second Street, and Christopher Frumkin, 21, of the 800 block of Golf Road.

Both men said they did not steal anything and had entered unlocked vehicles and garages in the area looking for cigarettes.

Aldana has been charged with burglary, a Class Two felony; and Frumkin has been charged with criminal trespassing.

Libertyville Police Lt. Scott Fabbri says he cannot comment on why the two men were given different charges except that the State’s Attorney approved the burglary charge for Aldana.

Frumpkin was released on a $1,000 personal bond pending an appearance at the Lake County courthouse on June 10.  Aldana was taken to Lake County courthouse where he was issued a $25,000 cash bond.
