Most Citations Issued for Speeding During Labor Day Campaign

As part of the Labor Day "You Drink. You Drive. You Lose" campaign, Libertyville police ramped up traffic enforcement.

recently announced the results of the department's enhanced traffic enforcement for the Labor Day .

During the campaign a total of 267 citations and 112 warnings were issued.

Most arrests and citations were for speeding, followed by no proof of vehicle insurance.

Funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, the additional enforcement focused on impaired drivers as well as seat-belt violations, as statistics show a disproportionate number of traffic deaths occur late at night and involve a drinking driver and/or unbuckled motorist.
