Mundelein Teen Killed in One-Vehicle Crash
17-year-old Harrison Fischer died early Sunday morning following an accident near Grayslake.
It appears speed was a factor in the accident that caused the car of 17-year-old Harrison Fischer of Mundelein early Sunday near Grayslake, according to the Lake County Sheriff.
The accident happened on the 29700 block of West Chardon Road, near Route 60.
Chief Wayne Hunter of the Lake County Sheriff's Office said they were called to the scene at 5:09 a.m., where they found Fischer's car nearly split in half. Hunter said the teen was the only person in the 2002 Ford Escape when it veered off the road and hit a utility pole, then a large tree.

The Lake County Coroner said Fischer suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation, yet authorities believe speed was definately a factor.

"Anytime we have a one-car accident with that much damage, we believe he had to have been going very fast," Hunter said.
At this time police do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
