The accident involving a freight train occurred about 8:30 a.m. on the Metra North Central line, which operates on the same tracks as the freight train, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The condition of the person who was hit by the train was not immediately known, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
The accident halted Metra train 101, which was scheduled to arrive in Antioch at 8:48 a.m., and passengers were bussed to Antioch, while passengers on inbound train 112 were bussed from Round Lake, Lake Villa and Antioch to Grayslake where a train was expected to bring them into the city, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
Train 114, which was scheduled to depart at 11 a.m., was operating 50 to 55 minutes behind schedule, according to the Metra webiste. Passengers on Train 114 in Antioch, Lake Village, Round Lake and Grayslake were bussed to the Prairie Crossing station where a train would bring them into Chicago. That train was on the move as of 12:30 p.m., according to the Metra website.
