Police Blotter: Alcohol, Drug Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Steven J. Gissing, 26, of 220 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, was charged with four counts of driving under the influence of alcohol (including two felony counts) Aug. 31 near East Church Street and Wright Court. Police said he turned in front of an officer's vehicle, causing the officer to apply his brakes to avoid an accident. Gissing was also cited for driving while license revoked, failure to yield turning left and not having a rear registration light. He was taken to the Lake County Jail to await bond court.

Scott Michael Moore, 41, of 1113 Shari Lane, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 2 near Dymond Road and Route 176. He was also cited for DUI over .08, speeding and not having a registration light. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 27 court date.

Drugs

Johanna L. Olsen, 18, of 1120 Regency, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs Sept. 1 near South Dymond Road and Harms Avenue. She was also cited for speeding and not having a registration sticker. She was released on her drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 27 court date.

Traffic

Cesar Hernandez-Benitez, 30, of 880 Linden Unit 3M, Libertyville, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 1 near Milwaukee Avenue and Cook Street. He was also cited for speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 9 court date.

Estaban Garcia-Mendoza, 45, of 950 Lorraine, Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 1 near Milwaukee and Austin Avenues. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and speeding. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 16 court date.
