Police Blotter: Attempted Burglar, Obstructing Police

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Attempted Vehicle Burglary

On June 8, police responded to an office in the 1000 block of West Park Avenue on a complaint of a possible vehicle burglary. The business owner told police she saw a man from her office window attempt to open her car doors. When she yelled at the man, he fled. Police later located Anton Herres, 19, of the 1000 block of Wellington, and he was identified. Police charged him with attempted burglary, a Class 3 felony, and he was held for bond court at the Lake County courthouse the following morning.

On June 1, police responded to Casa Bonita, 633 N. Milwaukee Ave., where two men who had been asked to leave the restaurant had refused. Vernon Hills resident Mario Cruiz-Alberto refused to provide police with his correct identity. Police charged Cruiz-Alberto with obstructing a police officer and attempted possession of fraudulent identification card. He later was released on a $1,500 bond, pending a July 11 court appearance at Lake County Courthouse.

On June 11, police stopped Lake Forest resident Douglas Warnock, 29, at Sunnyside and South Milwaukee Avenue after they observed him swerve out of his traffic lane several times. Police arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08, improper lane usage and one-way street violation. He later was released on a $1,000 bond pending a traffic court date of July 1 at the Lake County courthouse.

Police stopped Green Oaks resident Ryan Wallace, 21, when they observed him driving erratically on North Milwaukee Avenue on June 11.  Police arrested Wallace on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08, improper lane usage, failure to signal and open transportation of alcohol. He later was released after posting his driver’s license and signing a recognizance bond. His court date is scheduled July 1 at the Lake County courthouse.

Driving mishaps

Police stopped Round Lake Beach resident Bersain Bahena, 30, when he traveled through double yellow lines as he attempted to make a left-hand turn from Route 176 onto southbound Milwaukee Avenue on June 6. Police charged Bahena with improper lane usage, driving without a driver’s license and without insurance on the vehicle. He was taken into custody and later released on a $2,000 bond, pending a July 13 court appearance at Mundelein Branch court.

On June 7, police observed a vehicle with a non-functioning rear registration plate light. Police stopped the vehicle and a records check revealed that the driver, North Chicago resident Ricardo Estrada-Gomez, 27, had a revoked license. Police charged him with driving without a rear registration plate light and while license revoked. Due to the felony charge of driving while revoked, Estrada-Gomez was held overnight for a bond hearing the next morning, where he was issued a $2,500 bond.
