Police Blotter: Battery, Retail Theft Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Battery

Two men were charged with battery following a fight Oct. 2 at Austin's Saloon and Eatery, 481 Peterson Road. Arrested for battery and disorderly conduct were: Zachary M. Nitch, 21, of 6130 Newbury Court, Gurnee; and Derek M. Sorby, 23, of 33672 N. Lake Shore Drive, Grayslake. A third person, Joseph W. Lombardi, III, 22, of 33669 Gages Lake Drive, Gages Lake, was charged with disorderly conduct. All three men were released on $120 cash bonds pending a Nov. 13 court date.

Retail Theft

Charles F. Buell, 52, of 1252 Streamwood Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Oct. 3. Police said Buell was arrested at his home after employees at Walgreens, 1470 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, reported that he had stolen a Halloween decoration and a bottle of lemonade. Employees gave police Buell's license plate number. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI over .08. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 18 court date. 

Traffic

Tanya S. Oglesby, 49, of 921 Prescott St., Waukegan, was charged with driving while license revoked Sept. 30 near Route 21 and Park Avenue. She was release on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 13 court date.

Yesenia Zarate, 25, of 316 Hemholz No. 1, Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Oct. 1 near Butterfield Road and Victory Drive. She was also cited for speeding and operating a vehicle with suspended registration. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 13 court date.

Eduardo Zermeno, 37, of 416 Powell, Waukegan, was charged with driving while license revoked Oct. 3 on the 1000 block of East Park Avenue. He was also cited for improper lane usage. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 8 court date.

Efrain G. Mendoza, 20, of 42 S. Shaddle, Mundelein, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Oct. 4 near Butterfield Road and Lake Street. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 13 court date.
