Police Blotter: Boy Charged with Possession of Controlled Substance; Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Dec. 24 through Jan. 8.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Alcohol

Parish A. Ashford, 19, of 1186 Ballantrae Place Unit A, Mundelein, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol Jan. 6 at Condell Acute Care Center, 6 Phillip Road No. 1102. He was also cited for possession of liquor by a minor. He was released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 13.

Burglary

Five people were charged with burglary and retail theft Jan. 7 at Kohl's, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said the suspects left the store without paying for nearly $3,201 worth of merchandise. Arrested were: Tosha S. Allen, 38, of 2200 Kembel B, North Chicago; Autumn N. Pitts, 20, of 13700 S. Indiana Ave., Riverdale; a 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl; and Dilvia S. Stamps, 22, of 2409 W. Dugdale Road No. 205B, Waukegan. Allen and Pitts were remanded on $25,000 bond pending a Jan. 23 court date. The 13-year-old and 17-year-old were referred to juvenile court. Stamps, who was also wanted on a warrant, was remanded on $50,000 bond pending a Jan. 23 court date.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

A 13-year-old boy was charged with possession of a controlled substance Jan. 8 at Hawthorn Middle School, 600 N. Aspen Drive. He was also cited for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Police said he had several medications that were not prescribed to him. He was referred to juvenile court.

Retail Theft

Two women were charged with retail theft Dec. 24 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center, after police said they left the store without paying for nearly $163 worth of clothing. Arrested were: Myra Hernandez, 21, of 1710 Golf Road, Waukegan, and Marlenie Ayala, 19, of 1710 Golf Road No. 202, Waukegan. Both were released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds pending a Jan. 14 court date.

Elaina D. Enselein, 18, of 375 Janik Drive, Kent, OH, was charged with retail theft Jan. 7 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $28 worth of socks. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Feb. 13 court date.
