Police Blotter: Burglary to Motor Vehicle; Sale of Liquor to a Minor

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Dec. 12-21.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Alcohol

Roberto A. Galeana, 24, of 1737 Lincoln, North Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 21 near Indianwood Drive and Crestview Lane. He was also cited for driving while license suspended, improper right turn and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 15 court date.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Cordaro R. Hopkins, 26, of 29636 Oxford, Mundelein, was charged with burglary to motor vehicle Dec. 20 at Westfield Hawthorn Mall. Police said he entered a bus parked in the lot on Dec. 6 and removed a woman's coat. He was taken to a bond hearing.

Retail Theft

Keila Duran, 21, of 26258 W. Ingleside Ave., Ingleside, was charged with retail theft Dec. 12 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $200 worth of clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court Jan. 9. She was also wanted on a DuPage County warrant. She was released on $475 cash for the warrant pending a Jan. 9 court date.

Kelsey A. Derosier, 20, of 1013 S. 4th Ave., Libertyville, was charged with retail theft Dec. 21 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for two boxes of eyeliner. A subsequent investigation revealed that she was in possession of stolen items from two other stores, police said. She was cited for possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $150 cash bond pending a Jan. 13 court date.

Sale of Liquor to a Minor

Tyler D. Lett, 22, of 210 Midland Ave., Mundelein, was charged with sale of liquor to a minor Dec. 18 at Noodles and Company, 700 N. Milwaukee Ave. He was released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 13.

Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance

A 17-year-old boy was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance Dec. 20 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 S. Lakeview Pkwy. He was referred to juvenile court.
