Police Blotter: Cable Cut at Lake Minear, Car Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal Damage to Property, Trespassing

Vandals cut a cable line to the boundary and safety buoys at Lake Minear Beach, 600 Oak Spring Road, on July 2. The beach manager also said that someone trespassed and relocated picnic benches, a picnic table and a rowboat on the property two weeks ago. The cost to replace the cable is estimated at $200.

Theft

An unlocked Cadillac SRX, valued at $46,670, was reported stolen from Weil Cadillac Hummer, 1050 S. Milwaukee Ave., on July 2. A navigation system located the vehicle in Chicago and it was towed back to Libertyville. No information was immediately available regarding any damage to the vehicle.

Amanda M. Medina, 22, 433 Rays Lane, Mundelein, was charged June 28 with theft under $300 after police said she fraudulently processed a refund while working at Ace Hardware, 155 Peterson Road, and pocketed the money. She was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond and issued a July 27 court date in Mundelein.

DUI

John J. Watkins, 71, 14856 Park Ave., Green Oaks, was charged July 1 with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found him unconscious and slumped over the steering wheel of his running vehicle in the 500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a July 29 court date in Waukegan.

Elizabeth J Gamber, 39, 80 Warrington Drive, Lake Bluff, was charged July 2 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving in the wrong lane, operating uninsured vehicle and no valid registration. Police stopped the vehicle on the wrong side of the road on Milwaukee Avenue near North Artaius Parkway. She was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a July 22 court date in Waukegan.
