Police Blotter: Car Burglary at Condell, Crestfield Ave.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary to Auto

An employee reported that her vehicle was broken into from the rear-passenger window on Aug. 30. The employee’s purse, which had been under the front passenger seat, was missing. The purse contained a driver’s license, credit cards, two checkbooks, and $250 that was in a red leather wallet and a red leather change purse.

At about midnight Sept. 4, police were sent to the 900 block of Crestfield Avenue on a report of a burglary to motor vehicle in progress. Police discovered a teen and another male had burglarized three vehicles in the area. A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle, attempted burglary to a motor vehicle, criminal trespass to a vehicle, resisting a police officer, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. The juvenile was transported to the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Detention Center and was referred to Lake County Juvenile Court.

DUI

Bernardo Garcia-Plaza, 23, 3070 Kath Lane, Unit B6, Waukegan, was charged Aug. 28 with driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, speeding and improper lane use after police observed him driving on Milwaukee Avenue. He later was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Sept. 13 court date in Waukegan.

Caroline E. Thorson, 36, 430 Lake Shore, Wauconda, was charged Sept. 1 with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use after police observed her swerving and crossing over the center dividing line. Police stopped her on Gregg’s Parkway just west of Milwaukee Avenue. She later was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Sept. 23 court date in Waukegan.

Driving Mishaps

Karina Hurtado, 18, 330 Brainerd Ave., was charged Sept. 2 with driving without a valid driver’s license and no lights when required after police observed her driving without headlights on Milwaukee Avenue near Appley Avenue. Her father, Antonio Hurtado, 42, 330 Brainerd Ave., a passenger in the vehicle, was cited with permitting an unauthorized person to drive. Karina later was released after posting a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued an Oct. 23 court date in Mundelein.

Jessica L. Doerr, 20, 662B Westmoreland Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged Sept. 1 with driving while license suspended. She later was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Sept. 28 court date in Mundelein.

Joshua A. Leighliter, 37, 646 N. Butrick St., Waukegan, was charged Sept. 3 with driving while license suspended. He later was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued an Oct. 23 court date in Mundelein.
