Police Blotter: Church Burglary, Juice Boxes Taken from Daycare

From the weekly Libertyville police reports. A charge is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Burglary

A lockbox in the sacristy of St. Lawrence Church was broken into sometime between Friday night, April 20, and Sunday morning, April 22. A wooden handled screwdriver was found next to the lockbox which had its hasp pried open. No forced entry to the building was found, and church staff stated that numerous activities had occurred at the church during the weekend. The box contained a few checks and envelopes, but did not contain money. The church later reported that the daycare area of the church was missing all their juice boxes and the canned meat. 

Driving While License Suspended

Daniel J. Michael, age 21, 2900 20 Place, North Chicago, was stopped for speeding on Butterfield Road near Route 137 at approximately 12:45 a.m., April 17. He was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license and was arrested. He was charged with driving while license suspended, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle. After processing, Mr. Michael was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a May 11, 2012, 9 a.m. court date at the Lake County Courthouse.

Battery, Disorderly Conduct

At approximately 6 p.m., April 17, police were called to the vicinity of Butterfield Road and Victory Drive on a report of a reckless driver. A vehicle matching the description was located a short time later near Crane Boulevard and Stevenson Drive, along with a second vehicle with a broken driver’s side window. Brian D. Suleymanov, age 32, 995 South Court of Shorewood 2B Vernon Hills, was arrested for disorderly conduct after witnesses confirmed that Suleymanov had exited his vehicle and approached another motorist's vehicle shouting obscenities. He was then observed striking the motorists driver’s side window with his hands causing the window to shatter. As a result, the motorist sustained minor lacerations to his forearm from the shattered glass. Suleymanov was charged with battery and disorderly conduct, processed and later released on a $120 cash bond. He was given a May 7, 2012, 1:30 p.m. court date at Mundelein Branch Court.

 

Driving While License Suspended, Operating Uninsured Vehicle

At approximately 3:10 p.m., April 19, Damon Duffie, age 28, was observed driving a vehicle with no rear registration plate. He was stopped in a parking lot at Advocate Condell Medical Center on South Stewart Avenue. A records check revealed that Duffie was driving with a suspended license and he was arrested. It was also found that the vehicle was being operated without insurance. Damon, 4208 Barberry Lane, 1C Zion, was charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle and no rear registration plate. He was processed and then released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a May 9, 2012, 1:30 p.m. court date at Mundelein Branch Court.

 

Driving Without a License in Police Parking Lot

Francisco Alvarado-Luna, age 23, 253 Rose Ave., Mundelein, was arrested in the parking lot of the police department at 5:45 p.m., April 20, for driving without a driver’s license. Alvarado-Luna had come to the police department regarding an accident two days earlier. At the time of the accident it became known that Alvarado-Luna did not have a valid driver’s license. When Alvarado-Luna left the police department he was seen getting into the driver’s seat of a vehicle. He was stopped by police as he attempted to exit the lot. He was cited, processed and then released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a pending court date of May 9, 2012, 1:30 p.m. at Mundelein Branch Court.

 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Cannabis

At approximately 2:45 a.m., April 21,  Alex James Tiskevich, age 24, 505 Chesterfield Road Vernon Hills, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was seen driving down the middle of Brainerd Avenue. When Tiskevich’s vehicle came to a stop in a parking lot in the 600 block of West Park Avenue, he got out of the vehicle and fled. He was located nearby and was taken into custody. He was charged with DUI, and a subsequent search of his vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia and cannabis. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis and improper lane usage. Tiskevich was taken into custody and processed. He was later released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and given a May 25, 2012, 9 a.m. court date at the Lake County Courthouse.
