Police Blotter: Criminal Damage, Warrant Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from Sept. 22-29.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Juliet B. Dawson, 43, of 416 Bay Tree, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 26 on Rockland Road near Milwaukee Avenue. She was also cited for DUI over .08, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage. She was released on her drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 18 court date.

David Ramirez, 35, of 232 E. Church St. No. 304, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 28 near Brainerd and Park Avenues. He was also cited for DUI over .08 and disobeying a stop sign. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 18 court date.

Zachary A. Kupfer, 22, of 7381 Lenox Court, Gurnee, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 29 near Peterson Road and Northwind Boulevard. He was also cited for DUI over .08, improper lane usage and having expired registration. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 25 court date.

Criminal Damage to Property

Lamont B. Jones, Jr., 27, of 2707 Theresa Ave., Waukegan, was charged with criminal damage to property Sept. 29. Police responded to the 600 block of Carter Street on a report of a large landscaping rock being thrown through the picture window of a home. The residents of the home saw a black Jeep Cherokee or a similar SUV leave the scene, police said. Officers located a vehicle matching that description several blocks away and stopped the vehicle. After investigating, the driver, Jones, Jr., was also cited for criminal trespass to property, no drivers license on person, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage. He was remanded into custody on $30,000 bond after a bond hearing.

Theft of Services

Miguel A. Guzman, 26, of 814 Ash, Libertyville, was charged with theft of labor services Sept. 22 after police said he refused to pay a taxi driver his fare on the 100 block of Peterson Road. He was released on $120 cash bond pending an Oct. 16 court date.

Traffic

Susana Meyer-Lopez, 27, of 1515 Turnbull, Round Lake Beach, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 28 near Butterfield and Golf Roads. She was also cited for failure to have two functioning headlights. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 16 court date.

Zulema Jaimes-Sotelo, 38, of 36091 Grand Oaks No. 102, Gurnee, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 29 near Milwaukee Avenue and Cook Street. She was also cited for improper lane usage. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Nov. 13 court date.

Warrant

Chester A. Biggs, 34, of 21 E. Willow, Round Lake Park, was arrested Sept. 28 on a Department of Corrections warrant for failure to appear on a parole violation charge. Police said Biggs attempted to elude officers and in order to subdue him, an officer used a taser on Biggs. He was treated by paramedics and transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was then transported to the police department for processing, police said.
