Police Blotter: Dairy Queen Burglarized; Alcohol Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from July 23-27.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Dale R. Bartell, 56, of 1501 Boston Blvd., Lansing, MI, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 23 near Butterfield and Peterson Roads. Police were called to the scene to investigate a traffic accident. Bartell was also cited for DUI over .08, disobeying a traffic control device, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 23 court date.

Brandon J. O'Meany, 20, of 602 Paddock, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 26 near Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for DUI over .08, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 23 court date.

David L. Benson, 55, of 1175 Museum No. 715, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 24 on East Golf Road. Police said they received a call about a person slumped over the steering wheel. Benson was also cited for not having a valid drivers license and driving while license suspended. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 23 court date.

Bronson A. Gahagan, 25, of 16552 Crescent Ave. No. 3, Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 27 on West Park Avenue. He was also cited for DUI over .08, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 30 court date.

Burglary

Nicholas F. Griesbaum, 20, of 707 Lake St. Unit GA, Antioch, was charged with burglary July 26 in connection with a burglary at Dairy Queen, 502 S. Milwaukee Ave. Police were called to Dairy Queen at 6:05 a.m. on a report that the back door of the business was open. Police found that the door had been pried open and that $200 cash had been stolen. An investigation into the burglary led police to arrest Griesbaum, who was also cited for possession of burglary tools. He was turned over to the Lake County Jail to await a bond hearing.

Troy R. Blazen, 46, of 8743 Third Ave., Pleasant Prairie, WI, was charged with burglary July 27. Police said they received reports from a concerned citizen about suspicious behavior at a construction site on the 2000 block of West Shell Drive. Police said Blazen attempted to flee from officers but was finally taken into custody. They found that the door of a nearby construction trailer had been pried open and that four large construction tools taken from the trailer had been placed near Blazen's vehicle. Police said they also found burglary tools inside Blazen's vehicle. Blazen was charged with burglary, theft over $300, possession of burglary tools and resisting a peace officer - all felony counts - and remanded on $30,000 bond. 

Traffic

Victoria C. Garcia, 21, of 3040 West 8th St., Waukegan, was charged with driving while license suspended July 23 on the 300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. She was also cited for having suspended vehicle registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 21 court date.
