Police Blotter: Damaged Windshield, Battery, Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Damaged Windshield

An employee at Morton Manufacturing, 700 Liberty Drive, reported on May 24 that the front windshield of his car had been damage. Police found an unbroken 40-ounce beer bottle lying in front of the car. Police believe it was the item used to damage the windshield. The damage is estimated at $200. Police are still investigating.

Battery

Lake Bluff resident Kevin Hogan, 24, was charged with battery following a fight in the parking lot at 118 W. Cook Ave. Two female alleged they received minor injuries when Hogan pushed them to the ground after they left a local pizza store. Police charged Hogan with battery. Hogan was released after posting a $120 personal bond, pending a July 13 Mundelien court apperance.

Theft to Vehicle

A resident of Austin Court Condominiums, 626 S. Milwaukee Ave., reported on May 25, that someone entered his unlocked vehicle during the previous night and removed a Garmin GPS and a CD case from his glove box. The value of the missing items is listed at $100.

Warrant Arrest

On May 26, Chicago resident Alexander Klimusko, 21, turned himself in at the Libertyville Police Department on an active warrant from Lake County. The warrant was issued for failure to appear on a charge of manufacture/ delivery of cannabis. Klimusko was unable to post bond and was transported to the Lake County jail.

While on routine patrol in the 100 block of Lake Street, police saw two individuals drinking beer in a public parking lot. A records check on one of the men, Mario Ordaz-DeJesus, 19, of the 200 block of Forest Lane, Round Lake Beach, IL, revealed that he was wanted on an active warrant from Lake County for failure to appear on a domestic battery charge. Ordaz-DeJesus was arrested and taken into custody. He was unable to post the $2,500 required for his release and was transported to the Lake County jail to appear before a judge for a bond hearing. The other individual was a 21-years-old and police did not charge either individual on local ordinance charges regarding open alcohol, according to Lt. Scott Fabbri.

DUI

Police stopped Wisconsin resident Daniel Charles Mathews, 22, on North Milwaukee Avenue near Route 137 on May 27. Police observed Mathews was weaving in his lane and crossing double yellow lines. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, operating uninsured vehicle, failure to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle. Mathews was released on a $300 cash bond, pending a June 17 court appliance at the Lake County courthouse.

Driving Mishap

While assisting Vernon Hills police with a possible theft from hawthorn Mall, police stopped Chicago resident Timmie Jones, 45, on Milwaukee Avenue near Valley Park Drive on May 28. Jones’ license was found to be revoked. Police charged him with driving while license revoked, operating uninsured vehicle, and failure to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle. Jones was released after posting a $2,000 bond, pending a court date of July 13 at Mundelein Branch court.

On May 23, police received a call regarding a two-truck driver driving through a red light on South Milwaukee Avenue at Artaius Parkway. At 2:45 p.m. police located the driver, Chicago resident Kevin Dammons, 45, at a local car dealership. A video review of the intersection showed Dammons’ tow truck trailer going through the red light using a left-turn lane as a through lane. Dammons was unable to produce a valid driver’s license and was arrested. Police charged him with disobeying a traffic control devise and driving while license suspended. He was later released after posting a $1,500 bond, pending a June 22 court appearance at Mundelein Branch court.

Police stopped Mundelein resident Fred Salazar, 22, on Milwaukee Avenue near Rockland Road on May 24, when a vehicle check revealed a suspended registration for a mandatory insurance violation. Police also found Salazar had a suspended driver’s license. Police arrested Salazar and towed his vehicle. His suspended license plates were sent back to the Secretary of State’s Office. Police charged Salazar with driving while license suspended, operation of a vehicle when license for non-insurance, operating uninsured vehicle. He was later released after signing a $3,000 bond, pending a court date on June 22 at the Mundelein Branch court.
