Police Blotter: Drug, Alcohol Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from July 19-22.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

James T. Tyrcha, 19, of 119 Annapolis Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 21 on the 400 block of Pine Lake Circle. Police said he drove on the wrong side of the road, almost striking another vehicle. He was also cited for battery, illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, disobeying a traffic control device and improper lane usage. He was released on his drivers license and $100 cash pending an Aug. 15 court date.

Drugs

Ivan T. Sanchez, 20, of 915 W. North Ave., Lake Bluff, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia July 21 near Alexandria and Deerpath Drives. He was released on a notice to appear in court Aug. 9.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with possession of cannabis July 22 on the 300 block of Shadow Creek. Police said he had cannabis, two glass pipes and a glass bong. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a notice to appear in court Aug. 9.

Battery

Ricky L. Fecht, 53, of 910 Westmoreland, Vernon Hills, was charged with battery July 20 on the 1000 block of Lakeview Parkway. Police said he touched a juvenile girl's arm and then resisted officers. He was also cited for disorderly conduct, assault, aggravated assault and resisting. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending an Aug. 15 court date.

Warrant Arrest

Jennifer L. Sheehy, 46, of 80 Springdale, Montgomery, AL, was arrested July 19 on Kendall County warrants for escape and failure to appear on a driving while license revoked charge, and a Kane County warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was released on $2,025 cash pending an Aug. 6 court date in Kendall County and Aug. 10 in Kane County.

Retail Theft

A 16-year-old was arrested for theft July 20 at Carson Pirie Scott, 3 Hawthorn Center. Police said the girl, an employee, took $20 from her register. She was released on a notice to appear in court Aug. 9.

Avanthika Yarlagadda, 26, of 9735 Sumac Road, Des Plaines, was charged with retail theft July 22 at Walmart, 555 Townline Road. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $65 worth of stickers. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13. Court records showed the charge was later dropped.

Shameracle Tyler, 19, of 329 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Waukegan, was charged with retail theft July 22 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $224 worth of clothing. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending an Aug. 22 court date.

Susan Miller, 52, of 334 Burdick St., Libertyville, was charged with retail theft July 22 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $185 worth of bedding. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending an Aug. 22 court date.
