Police Blotter: DUI, Burglary to Vehicle

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary to vehicle

A Garmin touch screen GPS with its stand was removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Laurel Avenue. The theft occurred sometimes during the overnight hours of June 17 while the unlocked vehicle was parked in the driveway. No estimate of the loss was listed.

DUI

On June 18, police observed Vernon Hills resident Salvador Zaragoza, 39, weaving in his lane of traffic and stopped him on North Butterfield Road near Ridgewood Lane. Zaragoza failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was additionally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level over 0.08, a well as for driving without a driver’s license and without insurance on the vehicle. Zaragoza was released on a $3,000 personal bond, pending a July 8 court appearance at the Lake County courthouse.

Police arrested Gurnee resident Margaret Girard, 49, for driving under the influence of alcohol after they observed her vehicle swerving in and out of its lane on South Milwaukee Avenue on June 16. Girard was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage. She was later released after posting a valid driver’s license and a $1,000 personal bond, pending a July 8 court date at the Lake County courthouse.

Driving mishaps

Burlington resident Eric Payette, 21, was charged with improper lane usage when he drove on the median as he attempted to make a left-hand turn from westbound Route 176 onto southbound Milwaukee Avenue on June 13. Police also found Payette was driving with a suspended license and arrested him. He was later released on a $1,500 personal bond, pending a July 13 court date at Mundelein Branch court.

Unlawful possession of cannabis

Following a complaint of suspicious persons, police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile from Lake Bluff for unlawful possession of cannabis. The incident occurred in the 200 block of West Cook Avenue on June 17. The juvenile was given a court date of Aug. 10 at Mundelein Branch court and was released to his mother.
