Police Blotter: Fire Under Investigation; Bike Stolen on Milwaukee Avenue

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests and crimes from Sept. 5-7.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Adam R. Hodge, 40, of 9078 Ridge Drive, Fishers, IN, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 5 on the 400 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for DUI over .08, speeding, improper lane usage and having expired registration. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 27 court date.

Anthony L. Farnsworth, 24, of 6426 Andover, Gurnee, was charged with unlawful possession of open alcohol Sept. 7 on a sidewalk on the 500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. He was given an Oct. 9 court date.

Heather M. Meyer, 19, of 1190 Warwick, Grayslake, was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor Sept. 7. Police said she contacted the police department for help in locating her vehicle, which she thought had been stolen. The vehicle was eventually located in a parking lot on the 400 block of South Milwaukee Avenue, police said. Meyer was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond peddling an Oct. 9 court date.

Drugs

Jimmy S. Thomas, 27, of 3887 Sunset, Northbrook, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis Sept. 5 near Milwaukee Avenue and Route 137. He was also cited for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to wear a seat belt. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 26 court date.

Structure Fire

A fire was reported on the 100 block of Johnson Avenue Sept. 5. Police said the rear roof of the garage on the property was engulfed in flames. No one was in the garage at the time of the fire. The fire is being investigated.

Theft

A silver and black Trek bike was stolen Sept. 7 on the 600 block of Milwaukee Avenue. The bike was parked in front of a restaurant entrance. The bike's owner told police he saw a person get on the bike and ride away. The owner attempted to chase the person but was unable to catch him. The bike was valued at $800.

Traffic

Kazbek Z. Gurdzibeev, 42, of 9418 Dee Unit F1, Des Plaines, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 6 on the 1000 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for speeding. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 16 court date.
