Police Blotter: Leaving the Scene of an Accident; Alcohol Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from Dec. 7-15.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Steven J. Balmes, 59, of 150 Lakeshore Drive, Roswell, GA, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 12 near Garfield and Park Avenues. He was also cited for failure to yield turning left. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 11 court date.

Joseph A. Nigro III, 24, of 1137 Furlong Drive, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 15 near Lake Street and Paradise Lane. He was also cited for driving between 16 and 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 4 court date.

Kaitlyn R. Story, 22, of 128 N. Garfield Ave., Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 15 near Church and First Streets. She was also cited for improper lane usage. She was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 4 court date.

Drugs

John V. Scholz, 27, of 412 Briar Place, Libertyville, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia Dec. 12. He was also cited for not having turn signal lights. He was released on $120 cash bond pending a Jan. 9 court date.

Hit and Run

Perla B. Servin, 27, of 4123 Greenleaf Court No. 307, Park City, was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident Dec. 7 after police received reports that two vehicles were hit on the 100 and 300 blocks of East Church Street. She was also cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on her drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending  a Jan. 7 court date.

Traffic

Jose Ubaldo Perez, 36, of 659 Ziegler Drive, Grayslake, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Dec. 14 near Routes 21 and 137. He was also cited for avoiding a traffic control device. Police said he drove through a parking lot to avoid stopping for the red light at the intersection. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 9 court date.
