Police Blotter: Mailboxes Damaged; DUI Arrest

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests and crimes from Aug. 17-24.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Matthew J. Halverson, 36, of 124 Surrey Lane, Lake Forest, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Aug. 24 near East Park and First Avenues. He was also cited for DUI over .08 and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 11 court date.

Criminal Damage to Property

Mailboxes were damaged on the 1300 block of Blackberry Court and the 1600 block of Old Barn between Aug. 17-20. One of the mailboxes, on Blackberry Court, was damaged with fireworks. 

Traffic

Tina M. Horan, 44, of 1111 U.S. Highway 41, Gurnee, was charged with driving while license suspended Aug. 23 on the 300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. Police said they responded to a complaint about a reckless driver and subsequently located Horan in the drive-thru of a bank. She was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and improper display of license plate. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 18 court date.

Manuel C. Pineda, 30, of 2729 Westwood Unit 2D, Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Aug. 24 near Butterfield and Peterson Roads. He was also cited for speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol by driver. He was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 11 court date. A passenger in the vehicle, Jose L. Jaquez, 23, of 4116 Greenleaf No. 308, Park City, was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol by passenger. He was also released on a personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 11 court date.
