Police Blotter: Money Laundering, Traffic Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from Sept. 17-21.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

A 17-year-old Libertyville resident was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Sept. 21 following a rollover accident on the 800 block of Paradise Lane. He and another juvenile were transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was also cited for reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 18 court date. The other juvenile was cited for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Battery

Darnell J. Phinazee, 30, of 2037 S. 14th St., Milwaukee, WI, was charged with battery Sept. 17 at Tommy's Bar and Grill, 137 Lake St. He was also cited for aggravated resisting arrest, obstructing identification and two counts of disorderly conduct. He was transported to the Lake County Jail for a bond hearing.

Drug Paraphernalia

Emiliano Cordova, 21, of 641 Park Unit D, Libertyville, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia Sept. 20. He was also cited for unlawful possession of fireworks. He was released on a notice to appear in court Oct. 16.

Money Laundering

Tarquin C. Saunders, 42, of 520 N. Wolf, Hillside, was charged with two counts of money laundering Sept. 20. Police said they were called to the BP gas station, 113 N. Milwaukee Ave., on a report of a person who had used a fraudulent credit card to make a purchase. Based on a description, Saunders was located on South Milwaukee Avenue near Artaius Parkway. Police said that further investigation revealed more than 30 additional victims of credit card theft involving other jurisdictions. He was also cited for fraudulent use of a credit card, driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle, two counts of burglary and two counts of identity theft. He was transferred to the Lake County Jail to await bond court.

Retail Theft

William W. Meyer III, 58, of 17099 Brookhill, was charged with retail theft Sept. 17. Police said he was seen stealing a bottle of vodka from Walgreens, 1470 S. Milwaukee Ave. He was released on $120 bond pending an Oct. 9 court date.

Traffic

Peter D. Drossos, 51, of 1006 May St., Endicott, NY, was charged with driving while license suspended Sept. 16 near West Park Avenue and Butterfield Road. He was also cited for unlawful possession of hypodermic needles and improper lane usage. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 26 court date.

Patricia Zatarain-Gonzales, 33, of 818 Franklin St., Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Sept. 20 on the 1400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. She was also cited for making an improper right turn and operating an uninsured vehicle. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 16 court date.

Lindsey A. Yacullo, 20, of 607 Creekside, Gurnee, was charged with driving while license suspended Sept. 21 on the 1200 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. She was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and driving with one headlight. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 9 court date. 

Warrant

Cameron S. Kalas, 23, of 322 E. Park Ave., Libertyville, was arrested Sept. 19 on a DuPage County warrant for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge. He was held for pickup by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.
