Police Blotter: Reckless Driving, Theft, Damaged Car

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Felony Aggravated DUI, Reckless Driving

Rafael E. Roa, 50, 425 Fairlawn Drive, Round Lake Beach, was charged July 30 with felony aggravated DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content over .08, driving while license revoked, reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving in the wrong lane. Police were called after people saw Roa driving recklessly and almost hitting a number of cars on North Milwaukee Avenue. Roa was arrested and held for a bond hearing the next morning.

Theft

A GPS and its mounting bracket were removed from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of West Lincoln Avenue between the overnight hours of July 27 and 28. A fuse box panel also was damaged on the vehicle during the theft. The damage and loss is estimated at $300.

A bicycle was stolen from the rear of Dreamland Comics, 105 W. Rockland Road on July 29. The blue-and-white, 21-speed bicycle was not locked at the time of the theft. The bike was valued at $250.

Car Damaged at Condell    

An employee at Advocate Condell Medical Center reported that someone broke the passenger-side rear window of her vehicle between the overnight hours of July 26 and 27. The car was parked in the south lot and it appeared that a pellet or BB gun caused the damage to the window and the metal surrounding it. Damage was estimated at $500.

DUI

Sudhaker Tripurana, 46, 7878 Geneva, Gurnee, was charged July 28 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content over .08, speeding, improper lane use and failure to signal when required. Police observed him driving erratically on North Milwaukee Avenue. He later was released after posting his driver’s license and signing a personal recognizance bond. He was issued an Aug. 9 court date in Waukegan.

Driving Violations

William A. Granberry, 41, 1118 E. Becker St., Hammond, Ind., was charged July 29 with driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle. Police stopped him on Route 176 near Ashbury Lane. He later was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond and issued an Aug. 26 court date in Waukegan.
