Police Blotter: Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Aug. 10-18.

Retail Theft

A 16-year-old boy was charged with retail theft Aug. 10 at Spencer's Gifts, 404 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $22 in merchandise. Police said he also took items from Claire's and Finish Line. He was cited for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and possession of tobacco by a minor. He was released to his parents.

Maria E. Ramirez, 25, of 454 Devonshire, Park City, was charged with retail theft Aug. 11 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $250 in clothing and jewelry. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Sept. 13 court date.

Sergii Siachyn, 21, of 1145 Canterbury, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft Aug. 11 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $171 in clothing. He was released on $150 cash bond pending a Sept. 4 court date. He was also wanted on two DuPage County warrants and one Kane County warrant for driving while license suspended. He was released on $1,125 cash bond.

Two girls, ages 15 and 16, were charged with retail theft Aug. 11 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said they left the store without paying for $50 and $73 in clothing, respectively. They were given a Sept. 13 court date.

Sondra Berman, 62, of 101 Pointe Drive, Northbrook, was charged with retail theft Aug. 14 at Walmart, 555 W. Townline Road. Police said she left the store without paying for $110 worth of cosmetics. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Sept. 13 court date.

Mariam Lara, 21, of 2835 Jolley Ave., Waukegan, was charged with retail theft Aug. 16 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $773 worth of clothing. She was remanded on $5,000 bond.

Alandra Robellar, 27, of 609 Glenview Ave., Highwood, was charged with retail theft Aug. 18 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $130 in clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

A 15-year-old girl was charged with retail theft Aug. 19 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $189 in perfume. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Aggravated Retail Theft

April J. Bock, 29, of 4209 Savoy Lane, McHenry, was charged with aggravated retail theft Aug. 12 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for about $654 in clothing and then struck the loss prevention agent. She was cited for battery and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was remanded on $10,000 bond pending an Aug. 15 court date.

Theft

Gaylord Davis, 47, 39792 Waterloo Drive, Beach Park, was charged with theft Aug. 17 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said he took the cashier's iPod from behind the counter while she was busy with another customer. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Sept. 24 court date.
