Police Blotter: Rollover Accident Results in DUI Arrest

The Libertyville Police Department reports arrests from June 1-9.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol
Christian Ceja-Vargas, 25, of 26236 Maple, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 1 after police responded to a call about a rolled-over vehicle on Park Avenue east of Dawes Street. Ceja-Vargas was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was transported to Advocate Condell for evaluation, where he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. He was also cited for not having a valid driver's license, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 21 court date.

Criminal Damage to Property

Hector X. Martinez, 22, of 15600 Connie St., Austin, TX, was charged with criminal damage to property June 9 after police responded to a call at the Island Tap, 112 E. Cook Ave., about someone who punched the jukebox. He was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond pending a July 10 court date.

Criminal Trespass to Residence

Brian Paul Finegan, 30, of 820 Paddock, Libertyville, was charged with criminal trespass to residence June 9. Police said a homeowner on the 400 block of Briar Place found articles of clothing and identification for Finegan in the backyard. Police searched the neighborhood and found Finegan asleep on a couch in a home a few doors down. The resident said Finegan did not belong in the house, police said. Finegan was also cited for criminal trespass to real property and disorderly conduct. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 19 court date.

David Hernandez-Vazquez, 42, of 4 S. Chicago Ave., Mundelein, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to residence June 8 after police said he entered a home on the 100 block of West Maple Avenue thinking it was his home. He was transported to Advocate Condell due to his level of intoxication, police said, and was eventually brought to the Libertyville Police Department for processing. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 18 court date.

Theft

A resident on the 1400 block of Braxton Road reported June 3 that someone cut the net off of their basketball hoop and stole a Blackhawks flag and staff that were attached to the garage. A garage light was also shattered. The items and damage were valued at $360. 

Theft from Motor Vehicle

A resident of the 900 block of Quaker Hill Lane reported June 2 that her purse, sunglasses and cell phone were taken from her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway. The vehicle was not locked. Police are investigating video from surveillance cameras, along with unauthorized charges made on the stolen credit cards.

Traffic

Angel Armando Ortiz-Alvarez, 26, of 925 S. Lincoln Unit 1, Waukegan, was charged with not having a valid drivers license June 5 on Butterfield Road just south of Route 176. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 17 court date.

Erick C. Duran-Garay, 28, of 2223 Shaun, Mundelein, was charged with not having a valid drivers license June 9 on the 100 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. He was also cited for speeding 30 miles per hour to less than 40 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 17 court date.

Kodi F. Smith, 36, of 18857 Sheridan, Lake Villa, was charged with driving while license suspended June 9 at BP, 113 N. Milwaukee Ave. She was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a July 10 court date.

Maria E. Portillo Carillo, 31, of 361 Walnut No. 141, Mundelein, was charged with not having a valid drivers license June 9 on the 700 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. She was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a July 10 court date.
