Police Blotter: Sale of Alcohol to a Minor; Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Dec. 3-8.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Ciro Sotero-Ocampo, 23, of 361 Walnut St. No. 140, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 2 at Creekside Drive and Briarwood Court. He was also cited for not having insurance, not having a valid drivers license, leaving the scene of a crash, improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and BAC over .08. He was released on $300 cash bond pending a Jan. 8 court date.

Roman Macilla, 40, of 335 Albert Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 7 near Aspen Drive and Aspen Pointe Road. He was also cited for improper lane usage, not having a valid drivers license and BAC over .08. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 8 court date.

Michael D. Kravets, 40, of 23582 Kingston Row, Lincolnshire, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 8 near Raleigh Drive and Kingston Row. He was also cited for BAC over .08, not having insurance, improper lane usage and following too closely. He was released on his drivers license and a $1,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 8 court date.

Libor Ustrnul, 31, of 41 Bedford Road, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 8 at Butterfield Road and Greggs Parkway. He was also cited for speeding and BAC over .08. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 8 court date.

Retail Theft

Xu Jun Wu, 49, of 2823 Whispering Oaks Drive, Buffalo Grove, was charged with retail theft Dec. 7 at Kohl's, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $165 worth of cosmetics and clothing. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Jan. 9 court date.

Two individuals—a 16-year-old boy and Ryan O. Suastegui, 19, of 708 Court of Birch, Vernon Hills—were charged with retail theft Dec. 8 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said they left the store without paying for nearly $119 worth of clothing. Both were released on a notice to appear in court Jan. 9.

Sale of Alcohol to a Minor

Derek Henry Chmielewski, 22, of 3185 Duffy Lane, Riverwoods, was charged with sale of alcohol to a minor Dec. 3 at The Beer Market, 1270 S. Milwaukee Ave. He was released on a notice to appear in court Jan. 9.

Stacy A. Auger, 35, of 2215 Joppa Ave, Zion, was charged with sale of alcohol to a minor Dec. 3 at Nirvana Wine Bar and Grillerie. She was released on a notice to appear in court Jan. 9. 

Theft

Ciera Q. Davis, 20, of 226 McKinley Ave., Waukegan, was charged with theft Dec. 3 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she made fraudulent returns. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 6 court date.
