Police Blotter: Teen Arrested for Aggravated Battery; Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Sept. 9-23.

Aggravated Battery

A 14-year-old boy was charged with aggravated battery Sept. 9 on the 300 block of Stone Fence Road. Police said the boy was seen chasing two juveniles with a hooked pole and destroying landscaping. He then fought with officers, police said. The boy was also cited for residential burglary, resisting, disarming a police officer, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. He was released to his parents.

Battery

Semy G. Ransom, 19, of 1345 Richmond Lane, Bartlett, was charged with battery Sept. 12 on the 200 block of Shorewood Court. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending an Oct. 2 court date.

Retail Theft

Nicholas A. Valentino, 18, of 28774 Pondview, Lakemoor, was charged with retail theft Sept. 15 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for a pair of shoes and a watch valued at $32. He was released on $120 cash bond pending an Oct. 11 court date.

Gerrardo Carranza, 44, of 1002 Lakehurst Road, Waukegan, was charged with retail theft Sept. 21 at Kohl's, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said he left the store without paying for two shirts valued at $26. He was given an Oct. 11 court date.

A 17-year-old girl was charged with retail theft Sept. 23 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $84 worth of cosmetics. She was given an Oct. 11 court date.

Criminal Damage to Property

Cynthia A. Kline, 50, of 1206 Hickory Terrace, Round Lake Beach, was charged with criminal damage to property Sept. 20 at Metro Square One, 10 E. Phillip Road. She was given an Oct. 11 court date.
