Police Blotter: Theft at Construction Site, 2 DUIs

A number of plumbing supplies and 650 feet of copper pipe were reported stolen from the construction site of Greentree Animal Hospital, 800 East Park Avenue. On Dec. 13, a plumbing contractor from the site reported the theft and said it occurred sometime over the previous weekend. No value of the total loss was reported.

Thieves broke into a home on the 1100 block of West Golf Road sometimes between 8am and 6pm, when the residents returned. The burglars stole crystal candleholders, silver items, money and a digital camera. Police are continuing to investigate the case.

Driving Mishaps

Police were called to West Winchester Road at Route 45 at about 10pm on Dec. 15. A motorist reported that the vehicle in front of him did not move when the traffic signal changed to green and the driver was slumped toward the passenger side. Police found Grayslake resident Bradley Davis, 28, unconscious and charged him with violating minimum speed regulation, driving in the wrong lane and driving under the influence of alcohol over 0.08. Davis was held overnight at the Libertyville Police Department and transported to the Lake County courthouse the following morning for a bond hearing.

On Dec. 14, police stopped Lake Forest resident Crystal Avalos, 19, for disobeying a stop sign at Newberry Avenue at School Street. Police arrested Avalos for driving with a suspended driver's license and towed her car. She was released on a personal bond. Her court date is set for Feb. 9, 2011.

Police stopped Wildwood resident Julie Wiederin, 23, on Milwaukee Avenue near Finstead Drive when they observed her driving southbound in the northbound lane of traffic. Wiederin was arrested for DUI and released after posting her driver's license and $100 cash. Her court date is set for Jan. 14, 2011.
