Police Blotter: Vehicles Burglarized; Alcohol Arrests

The Libertyville Police Department reports crimes and arrests from Jan. 6-12.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Libertyville Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Christopher R. McGinn, 25, of 1573 Old Barn Circle, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Jan. 10 on Lake Street east of Stonegate Drive. He was also cited for driving while license suspended and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 25 court date.

Jerry V. Grillo, 52, of 4518 Vista Drive, Island Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Jan. 12. Police said he left the roadway and struck a light pole on the 700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue and then drove away from the scene. He was stopped on Lake Street near Innsbruck Court. He was also cited for DUI over .08, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on his drivers license and $1,000 cash bond pending a Feb. 15 court date.

Burglary

A patron at X-Sport Fitness, 1163 Milwaukee Ave., reported that his vehicle was burglarized between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7. The driver's side window had been shattered. Items stolen from the vehicle included a Samsung Galaxy 3 cell phone, a cell phone car charger, an MP3 player and a black Fossil wallet.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle

Several unlocked vehicles were burglarized Jan. 6 in the area south of Golf Road and west of Milwaukee Avenue. Items stolen from the vehicles included Dr. Dre's Beats headphones valued at $300, a Droid II cell phone valued at $200 and miscellaneous change.

Traffic

Raymundo Hernandez-Antonio, 46, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Jan. 10 on West Winchester Road east of Butterfield Road. He was also cited for having expired registration. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 13 court date.

Jose Roberto Ortiz, 28, of 4241 Jennifer Lane, Arlington Heights, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Jan. 11 on Butterfield Road near Route 176. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 13 court date.
