Police Blotter: Vehicles, Residence Burglarized

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports arrests and crimes from May 21 through May 25.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

Three vehicles were burglarized in the Interlaken Ridge area between 4 p.m. May 21 and 5 a.m. May 22. A resident of the 1300 block of St. William Drive reported that a neighbor's purse and credit cards were scattered in her front yard. Her vehicle, parked in the driveway, had been burglarized, and $50 was stolen from her purse. Two additional vehicles — on the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Kristin Drive — were burglarized. A small sum of cash, along with a pocket knife and a folding knife, were stolen from one of the vehicles. A bottle of cologne valued at $88 and $62 in cash were taken from the glove box of the other vehicle. Police are investigating.

Residential Burglary

Erin D. Kolbinger, 35, of 34804 N. Long Ave., Ingleside, was charged with residential burglary May 23 on the 1000 block of South Garfield. Police said the home was burglarized while the homeowner was away for a short time. Upon returning, the homeowner noticed an unfamiliar car parked in the driveway and saw the driver, Kolbinger, run from the side of house and speed away. Kolbinger was apprehended the next day and was charged with residential burglary and unlawful use of a credit card. She was released on $50,000 bond pending a June 14 court date.

Alcohol

Martin D. Simonian, 50, of 223 Brookhill Road, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 25 on the 100 block of Lake Street. He also was cited with DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08. He was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 29 court date.

Traffic

Gene E. Lazarde, 21, of 805 N. McAree Road, Waukegan, was charged with driving while license suspended May 23. He also was cited with operating an uninsured vehicle and not having lights that are visible at least 500 feet from the rear of the vehicle. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 13 court date.

Clarence M. Smith III, 34, of 1526 Seymour, North Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended May 25 in a parking lot on the 100 block of South Milwaukee Avenue. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 18 court date.

Theft

A bicycle valued at $350 was stolen from Cook Memorial Library between 2:30 and 3:45 p.m. May 25. The bicycle was described as a red Miracco Apprentice with pegs on the rear wheel. The bike had not been locked to the bicycle rack, police said.
