Police Investigating Death of Libertyville Man Found Trapped Under Car

Robert Pokorny, 73, was found unresponsive and trapped beneath his vehicle at Adler Park, police said.

The Libertyville Police Department is investigating the death of Robert Pokorny, age 73, of unincorporated Libertyville.

The Police Department responded to a call Oct. 5 at Adler Park, 1500 Milwaukee Ave., where Mr. Pokorny was found unresponsive and trapped beneath his vehicle in the area of the sledding hill parking lot. Preliminary information suggests that Mr. Pokorny was apparently working on his own vehicle when it may have shifted and he became trapped by the rear tire.

Mr. Pokorny was transported to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville where he was pronounced deceased at 1:32 pm.

The Lake County Coroner’s office was contacted and responded to the scene, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined.

At this time it is not known why Mr. Pokorny may have been working underneath his vehicle. The working condition of the vehicle has not yet been determined. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when it becomes available.
