Police Investigating Saturday Night 'Disturbance' at Fairgrounds

A fight broke out in the seating area at a Mixed Martial Arts event. Libertyville Police were among three agencies who responded to the scene.

Grayslake Police are investigating a fight that occurred in the seating area at a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event at the Lake County Fairgrounds Saturday night.

Police Chief Phil Perlini said security at the event called police about a disturbance at about 10:20 p.m.

"Family members of the MMA fighters had 'words' in the seating area," said Perlini. "The two sides clashed physically for a short period of time before security guards were able to break up the fight.

"Adults and juveniles were involved in the ruckus and the event is still being investigated," said Perlini. He added that though dispatch received anonymous information that someone may have had a gun, "no information confirming that report was ever substantiated."

One person suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Lake Forest Hospital Emergency Center by the Grayslake Fire Department.

The Libertyville Police Department and Lake County Sheriff's Office both assisted at the scene.
