Sheriff Brings Therapy Dog to Visit Jail Inmates
Lake County Jail inmates and corrections officers enjoyed a visit from a therapy dog this week.
Kubla Khan, a 155-pound Leonburger—a German mountain dog, made his first visit to a correctional facility on June 19.
The therapy dog, accompanied by jail chaplains and his handler Susan Knaack, of the volunteer, non-profit organization Adventures with Bailey, made their way through the female pods of the Lake County Community Based Corrections Center (CBCC).
Kubla Khan, along with Knaack’s other therapy dogs, are certified by Therapy Dogs International. The therapy dogs frequent schools, nursing homes, hospitals and libraries. This was the first time a therapy dog was brought into the CBCC.
