Sheriff's Office Seeking Reserve Deputies

Want to be a part of the volunteer group?

Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran is seeking citizens to join the Lake County Sheriff’s Office team of Reserve Deputies.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Unit is a dedicated group of volunteers who assist the Sheriff’s Office sworn personnel on an emergency basis.  

Reserves may be called upon for a variety of reasons, including such things as directing traffic, searching for a missing person, or supplementing security for events such as the Lake County Fair. Reserves are uniformed civilians that are specially trained by the Sheriff’s Office to perform the duties required of them. A Reserve Deputy must have a flexible schedule and be able to respond immediately to a request for service.

A prospective reserve deputy must meet the requirements listed below.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be a resident of Lake County, Illinois
  • Must not have any felony convictions
  • Must pass an extensive background check
  • Must possess a valid Illinois drivers license

Anyone interested in joining the Reserve Deputy Unit can download an application at www.reservedeputy.com or contact Lt. John Crilly for further information at 847 377-7023. Applications must be sent to the attention of Lt. Crilly at 1301 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville, IL 60048. Applications are due by Oct. 1, 2012.
