Squad Cars Collide While Police Chase Suspect

Two police officers were treated and released after the crash.

Two police officers were treated and released from the hospital after their vehicles collided while pursuing a suspect, according to the Lake County News-Sun. One of the officers was from Lake Forest, the other from North Chicago.

The details of the pursuit are somewhat unclear, according to the article, but started in North Chicago after a sheriff’s deputy tried to pull over a car without its headlights on and it drove off. The crash happened on Shagbark in Lake Bluff.

That's great work, boys. Driving with the headlights off could have put innocent people in danger. I'll sleep better now.

Try reading the article, the car they were pursuing had their lights off. Not the police vehicles!

Yes, BAH, the police had their lights on, but it didn't help their driving. That's my point: High speed chases cause accidents. I don't want to be killed by a police car or any car, for that matter. Since they crashed into each other, they obviously were creating a dangerous situation with out-of-control driving. Is it worth the risk? I was driving on Route 60 one night and a police car ran a red light in front of me at full speed without even checking to see if anyone was coming. Had I not seen him in my peripheral vision and stopped at the green light, I would certainly have been killed.
