Also in this Libertyville police blotter, a man was arrested for DUI-drugs after hitting two parked cars

The following information is from the Libertyville Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Sudden stop leads to DUI arrest

Police were called at 2:40 a.m. to the vicinity of Route 45 and Tempel Drive March 2 after receiving a call from a Lake County Sheriff’s officer who was behind a vehicle that unexpectedly had come to a stop in the middle of the road. The officer suspected the occupants of the vehicle were under the influence of alcohol. When Libertyville officers arrived they noted that the front end of the vehicle had sustained damage and both front airbags had deployed. Both driver and passenger denied medical treatment.

The driver, Timothy E. Salaba, 43, of Gurnee, was asked to perform field sobriety tests. Police said he failed those tests and was arrested on charges of DUI alcohol, DUI alcohol over .08, no valid driver’s license and improper parking on roadway. After processing, Salaba was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an April 4 court date.
