Suspect Accused of Supplying Heroin that Killed Libertyville Man Pleads Not Guilty

A Round Lake Beach man charged with the drug-induced homicide of a Libertyville man earlier this year plead not guilty in court Tuesday, reported the Daily Herald.

Police said Byron Sullivan, 21, of 1117 North East End Ave., Round Lake Beach, provided the heroin that killed Timothy McCann, 20, of Libertyville. McCann was found unresponsive at his home on the night of Jan. 31. He was subsequently transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center by Libertyville paramedics where he was pronounced dead, reported Patch.

Sullivan was charged with Drug Induced Homicide (Class X Felony), Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 2 Felony) and Resisting Arrest (Class A Misdemeanor). If convicted, Sullivan faces 15 to 30 years in prison.

A judge also ordered Sullivan not to have contact with Euguen Henderson, 33, of Waukegan, was who arrested March 1 in connection with McCann's death, reported the Daily Herald. It is believed Henderson sold the heroin to Sullivan, who then delivered it to McCann.

According to the Lake County News-Sun, Sullivan was on probation for a drug-related offense when he was charged with drug-induced homicide. Sullivan and McCann are both Libertyville High School graduates, reported the News-Sun.

Sullivan remains jailed on $250,000 bond. A March 26 pre-trial hearing has been scheduled, with the trial expected to begin April 19, reported the News-Sun.
