Trial Delayed for Man Charged in Fatal Round Lake Crash

Mark Oelerich, 22, of Mundelein, faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated driving under the influence.

A trial has been delayed for a 22-year-old Mundelein man who told police he received signs from God that he was "invincible" before he purposely drove head-on into a oncoming traffic and caused a crash that killed Araceli Villasenor, 25, of Round Lake Beach, according to the Daily Herald.

The trial was supposed to start on Nov. 1 but a Lake County judge said Mark Oelerich, who faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated driving under the influence for his alleged role in the crash, first needs to undergo a psychological interview, according to the article.

The crash occurred on Cedar Lake Road near Route 120 in Round Lake on Nov. 24 and three of Villasenor's children were in her vehicle at the time and were treated for injuries and later released from an area hospital, according to the Daily Herald.
