Bids Awarded for Sidewalk, Sewer Projects

Trustees also awarded bids for two fire department vehicles.

Libertyville trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to award bids for the 2012 sidewalk replacement program and the West Austin sewer repair project.

The village received just one bid for the 2012 sidewalk replacement project, from A-Lamp Concrete Contractors for $75,000. Public Works Director John Heinz said the bid documents were sent to various contractors who have done work in the village before. One had gone out of business, Heinz said, and another couldn't do the work until fall.

A-Lamp Contractors will be paid based on actual work quantities, not to exceed $75,000.

The village received five bids — ranging from $157,661 to $239,450 — for the West Austin sewer repair project. Trustees voted to award the bid to Pirtano Construction in the amount of $157,661. The project will include removing and replacing about 435 linear feet of sanitary sewer, along with the removal and replacement of pavement, on West Austin Avenue.

In other business, the board accepted bids for a new Libertyville Fire Department utility vehicle ($26,049) and a fire department command vehicle ($29,290). Both vehicles came in under budget.
