Contested Races for Cook Memorial Library District, Hawthorn District 73

The mayor, village trustee and village clerk races are uncontested for the April election.

Libertyville residents will have to help decide contested races for the Cook Memorial Public Library District and Hawthorn District 73 Boards when they head to the polls in April.

Six people filed for three spots on the library board, including: incumbent Bonnie Quirke (Libertyville), incumbent Ann E. Oakley (Libertyille), Hela Ben-ayed (Libertyville), Phyllis A. Dobbs (Vernon Hills), Joe Bean (Libertyville), incumbent Tommy Koo (Vernon Hills).

Four people filed for three open seats on the Hawthorn District 73 board, including: Ghita Mueller of Libertyville, Sangita Parande of Vernon Hills, Jeanne Engelkemeir of Vernon Hills and Louis E. Gatta of Vernon Hills.

The races for mayor, village trustee, and the Libertyville Elementary District 70 and Community High School District 128 Boards are uncontested. Here's a look at who filed for those races:

Village

  • Mayor: Terry Weppler
  • Clerk: Sandy Kowal
  • Trustee: Jay Justice, Richard Moras and Todd Gaines

  • There are four, four-year seats available. Only three people filed: newcomer Wendy Schilling, incumbent Julie Damenti (who was appointed to complete a term two years ago) and incumbent Thomas Vickers (who is seeking his second term). A fourth board member will need to be appointed by the school board.

District 128

  • The incumbents were the only ones who filed: Pat Groody, Stephan Arthur, Karin Lundstedt and Ellen Mauer.
