Development Agreement Approved for Trader Joe's

Construction is set to begin on the Libertyville site by the end of April.

Trader Joe's is one step closer to coming to Libertyville.

Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the development agreement and final plat of subdivision for the future Trader Joe's site at 1600 S. Milwaukee Ave. The 3.15-acre site is set to be home to two lots, one of them being Trader Joe's.

The development agreement includes the installation of a sanitary sewer line across the eastern edge of the property, along with the installation of a storm water detention area, according to village documents.

The development will not include a sidewalk along Milwaukee Avenue, however, because a barricade would be required at the railroad tracks, said John Spoden, director of community development.

Trader Joe's announced in late February that it would open a location in Libertyville. It'll be located in the old Frank's Nursery spot.

Gred Van Landingham, president of Paragon Development Services, said construction should start at the end of April.

"We look forward to you getting started really quickly," said Mayor Terry Weppler.
