Harris Road to Close for 90 Days

The road closure will allow Midlothian Road to be extended to Route 137.

Starting April 4, the Lake County Division of Transportation will close Harris Road to thru traffic for 90 days from Peterson Road, Route A-33, to Route 137. The road closure will allow Midlothian Road to be extended to Route 137.

The signed detour route for this closure will be Peterson Road, to Route 45, to Route 137. The entrance to Metra’s Prairie Crossing stations and Mallory Drive will be accessible from Illinois Route 137 during the road closure.

When completed, Midlothian Road will connect into the current Harris Road near the Canadian National Railroad crossing and then proceed north using the existing right of way of Harris Road, which will be renamed as Midlothian Road. The existing Harris Road will end in a cul-de-sac south of the Canadian National Railroad tracks. The completed the project will allow traffic to proceed north using Midlothian Road from Peterson Road, past the Lake County Fairgrounds, to Route 137.
