Lane Closures in Libertyville Wednesday

Temporary closures scheduled on IL Route 21 and IL Route 137 as part of the road reconstruction project.

One lane in each direction will be closed along Buckley Road, east of IL Route 21, for the installation of new storm sewer laterals just west of Des Plaines River, according to a village update.

. The IDOT project will widen the highly used roadway to alleviate traffic.

On Thursday, March 29, Commonwealth Edison will disconnect the power to the traffic signals at the intersection of IL Route 21 and IL Route 137 to replace the existing cables at that location. The outage will begin at 9 a.m. for about 30 minutes. Power to the traffic signals will be restored at 2 p.m. the same day.

The $25 million project involves reconstructing the roadway, building a second lane in both directions and adding an 18-foot landscaped median along 2.2 miles. New traffic signals will be installed at Route 21 and Casey Road. Dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes in each direction will be added at Route 21 and Route 137.
