Have you ever wondered what the details of a meeting entail? Well, soon Libertyville residents will have access to the same information village trustees receive before each Village Board meeting.

“With the current agenda it’s tough to know what’s going. You read it but don’t know what’s going to be discussed at the meeting,” said Trustee Jim Moran who also chairs the Special Projects Committee. “The main reason we wanted to have detailed agendas online is so more people will have access.”

The detailed agendas will be offered as part of village of Libertyville’s website redesign launch, scheduled for Jan. 20, 2012.

“We won’t have everything downloadable,” Amidei said referring to larger maps or similar items, “but we will put this note that this item is available with contact information.”

The website redesign will feature online service requests and tracking, a photo gallery, new Facebook and Twitter feeds to share news flash items and interesting village facts, according to Kelly Amidei, assistant village administrator.

While many new features have been added, the redesign keeps some current features such as allowing residents to pay utility bills, recreation registration and violations online.

The village also is working on iPhone applications for service requests and general information.

Another new feature of the website is community involvement. Libertyville residents will be encouraged to add community events to the calendar and photos to the photo gallery.

Moran hopes that with more access, residents will be more civically engaged and involved.

“A government can never have too much transparency and I would like to provide that for residents so we can get more people involved in meetings,” Moran said.
