Libertyville OKs Library Parking Lot Agreement

The agreement will widen the Brainerd entrance to allow for two-way traffic in and out of the Cook Park Library parking lot.

Libertyville trustees approved an agreement with the Cook Memorial Public Library Board to change the existing parking lot at the Cook Park branch.

The agreement will widen the Brainerd entrance to allow for two-way traffic in and out of the lot.  The village requested the change to allow the closure of the Church Street exit during village events such as Car Fun on 21, farmers markets and Libertyville Days.

Before the final vote, Mayor Terry Weppler expressed concern that the agreement does not state a time limit for when the library board could reject final plans.

The agreement “says any of said items not within substantial compliance of the approved final plans are subject to rejection of the library board but it doesn’t give any time limit for rejection at all. Is this a year down the road or is it 30 days?” Weppler asked during the meeting.

Village Attorney David Pardys said the village is assuming that the library board will move ahead quickly with plans.
