Libertyville officials Tuesday approved a deal with Swanson Development Group of Lake Forest to sell Bolander Park for $2.05 million as the developer plans to build "a townhouse-style neighborhood" in place of the park, according to the Daily Herald.

Libertyville officials said their is a demand in the village for "additional multifamily usage" and there are not many other sites available in town for such developments, according to the Daily Herald.

Trustees voted unanimously Sept. 25 to sell the Bolander Property, located on Winchester Road. According to a document drafted by Village Administrator Kevin Bowens, "the village staff and Parks and Recreation Committee have been conducting a study of the property, and determined that it is underutilized."
